I have decided that I would like to write a series of posts on moments that I will not forget. There are those times or moments that have really stuck with me and helped shape the person I am today or just left a deep impression on me.

One moment that have I remembered often in the recent months as I was deciding to commit a year of my life to serving at Hananasif in Tanzania.

The ride to the airport in Dar es Salaam in 2008. We took a cab from the orphanage’s city center to the airport. Baba (Hezekia – the director of the orphanage) was in the front seat and David Edward and I were in the back seat. David is one of the top performing students at Hananasif. I got to know him pretty well during my stay. Baba and David were accompanying me to the airport. I was sad to be leaving HOCET. I felt like the month I spent with them was just not long enough and I felt like my three months in Tanzania gave me enough of a taste to want to stay longer. I was sad to be leaving, but I had a strong feeling within me that my time there was not done, that I would be back. I had a strong peace about leaving and knowing that I would be back.

In the past year there have been times I would remember that moment of peace and assurance – that cab ride to the airport and be reminded that my time in Tanzania, my time at HOCET is not done. I will be back.
